Personalized Fulfillment Platform Offers a Customer-Centric Digital Retail Experience

December 10, 2018, Westborough, Mass. – Yantriks today announced that Petco, a leading specialty retailer of premium pet food, supplies and services, has selected and deployed Yantriks’ Personalized Fulfillment Platform (PFP) to deliver highly scalable and performant buy online pick up in-store (BOPUS) capabilities to their online customers. Petco has already received more than 100,000 BOPUS orders to date and has increased eCommerce revenue and the number of net new customers by more than five percent. The project was completed in less than four months and the BOPUS feature is now available online and operational at all 1500 retail Petco locations.

In response to emerging customer commerce needs, Petco partnered with Yantriks to rapidly deploy BOPUS within an accelerated time frame. The requirements of the project included providing accurate and reliable digital and in-store inventory to online consumers as well as operating at Internet scale. Yantriks was selected due to the PFP’s ability to create a single view of inventory availability, operate at sub-second response times and support peak performance with rapid deployment across all retail locations.

Previously, Petco’s technical architecture was comprised of multiple disparate platforms prohibiting the ability to achieve a single view of inventory availability and limiting the new BOPUS capability at the scale and performance required for Petco.com. The PFP seamlessly integrated with all Petco inventory sources and customer profile information, existing commerce and distributed order management (DOM) systems. This provides customers with the option to view available inventory online, purchase products from nearby stores and pick them up that same day. Additionally, the PFP provides a consolidated, scalable, and high-performing, microservices foundation on which future, more personalized omni-channel fulfillment initiatives can be built. While projects of this scale are extremely complex, typically taking up to a year to deploy, with Petco’s leadership and Yantriks’ expertise, the BOPUS project was fully deployed across retail locations in less than four months.
